Gait and Foot Scan

What is Gaitscan?

Gaitscan is a state of the art computer hardware and software system that helps us to assess and analyse your feet. This analysis combined with our experience and knowledge detects abnormal foot function which may be affecting your feet or other body parts.

Why is the Gaitscan so Helpful?

Your foot is in contact with the ground for about 0.8 of a second when walking and about 0.25 seconds when running. It is very difficult to determine normal or abnormal foot function through normal observation.  The Gaitscan system allows us to record your timing sequences when you walk or run. This provides you with a clear picture of your foot mechanics and will help determine whether you would benefit from treatment of your foot or custom made orthotics.

What are Orthotics?

Orthotics are devices worn in your shoes that provide correction to your feet, helping them to function more efficiently. Poor foot function and alignment has been shown to potentially cause various conditions such as foot, hip, knee and back pain.

Prescription orthotics may help relieve your pain by realigning and stabilising the bones in your feet, restoring your natural walking pattern.
